2024 Summer Reading Program “Adventure Begins at Your Library”

Children under a blanket reading and the slogan, "Adventure begins at your library"

Our 2024 Summer Reading Program theme is "Adventure Begins at Your Library." Recording of reading will all be done in-person in the libraries this year, so stop in to check out books and sign up for in-person programs and take-home activities!

Children (ages preschool through 6th grade)

Registration begins Saturday, May 25 and recording reading for prizes begins Monday, June 3. Kids will be keeping track of their reading this year to earn brag tags and beads! Every child receives a chain and Library tag when they record their first book. We will have weekly in person programs, as well as activity centers at the library.

Books are assigned the following points:

  • 1 point each: Picture books and ICanRead books
  • 4 points each: Juvenile fiction (chapter books), Graphic Novels, and Nonfiction.

Every 10 points achieved earns a brag tag. Children will also earn beads each time they record their reading.

Teens will keep track of the number of books they read, and set a reading goal. When they reach their goal, Teens will earn an entry in the drawing for a $75 Amazon gift card, which will be announced on Thursday, August 1.

Tweens (grades 5 - 8) can also sign up for weekly Tween Challenges on Monday evenings at Pemberville! These are activities designed to encourage kids to work as a team or individually to accomplish a task. Registration is required, so please call or visit the library to sign up. Registration begins May 20th.

  • Earn 1 ticket for every 12 books you read to your young child.
